Another American Colonial Era House
From Center of Misamisnon Culture and History
Another American colonial era house. This is the house of the former Provincial Treasurer of Misamis Occidental, MR. FILOMENO PACANA (Pacaña) whose name appeared in the Mindanao Emergency Notes during World War 2.
Mr. Pacana who is from Misamis Oriental designated as the Provincial Assessor in August 18, 1941 before the war.
The original owner of the house is the family of DR. APOLINARIO BAYTION who was the first Chief of Hospital of what is now the Misamis Occidental Provincial Hospital (MOPH). The basement area is where the clinic of Dr. Baytion is located.
Mr. Pacana bought the house from the Baytion family before the war broke out.
According to his great grandson, the mango tree (pic3) at back portion of the house is said to be at least 100 years old or as old as the house is. This house is looking for a new owner, hopefully the new owner will preserve this house.
