'LINK' Download Link Not Working In Firefox
LINK >>>>> https://geags.com/2t7fIM
I clink a link to start a download and it will not give me the prompt to save the file nor does it automatically start the download to a directory I have chosen is options. I have closed the browser and rebooted and nothing seems to fix the issue.
After reporting this to Bugzilla, I had several exchanges with them on this (Bug 1760536 ). I don't know why but the issue went away after trying various things. The ONLY thing that I can think of is that one attempt I tried was to specify a download directory -- towards the end of my many attempts. Then, when I changed the Download option to choose the "Always ask you where to save files" option and then set the Applications -> Portable Document Format (PDF) set to "Always ask", it worked! It didn't make any difference what directory was set to. Maybe by setting a field that had not been set to anything but was now set to something made sure that a parameter check didn't fail. This is just a 'guess' on my part but I did programming for a while when I was working (30+ years before retiring) and also taught a computer programming course at a local university for about 10 years -- my 'guess' is based on these many years of programming experience!
To save a element's contents as an image, you can create a link where the href is the canvas data as a data: URL created with JavaScript and the download attribute provides the file name for the downloaded PNG file:
Direct download links are working fine for me in Chrome, but not Firefox. Is there some security setting I need to change? I'm not even seeing a "blocked" download. When I click on the "direct download" link, absolutely nothing happens. Help?
Thanks for your report. It seems it's by design if Content-Disposition: inline, Firefox prefers the header while Chrome prefers download[1]. Redirect this bug to Networking to get further determination.
As far as I can tell, docshell saves the filename / "this is a download" info onto the channel at -central/rev/6cc48251bb97600fdf11a5b4c5f621bfc8606d55/docshell/base/nsDocShell.cpp#9305-9321 , or perhaps an equivalent thing in parent-process-document-channel, and maybe then it gets overwritten by the headers from the request, or something? That sounds to me like it'd be a networking bug... The URILoader code just asks the channel for the content disposition info later. If the download attribute is meant to trump that, the channel code should be ensuring that...
This issue is still present on 87.0a1 when redirection is involved. Suppose there is an to link to api/data endpoint that immediately redirects to api/data?token=xxx which then returns Content-Disposition: inline, Chromium/Safari will proceed to download the content (intended behavior) while Firefox tries to play the content inline.
The article explains why hyperlinks may not be working in Outlook and provides several solutions to fix the issue. These methods will let you open links in your Outlook emails again with no problem, no matter which version you use - Outlook 365, 2021, 2019, 2016, 2013, 2010, and lower.
Just imagine this... You have always opened links in Outlook just fine, and then all of a sudden hyperlinks stopped working and whenever you click on a link embedded in an email, you end up getting the error. In Outlook 2010 and Outlook 2007, the error message is as follows:
The main reason of hyperlinks not working in Outlook is the default Internet browser not registered (properly) in your operating system. Typically, this issue comes up after uninstalling Google Chrome or changing the default browser from Internet Explorer to either Chrome or Firefox.
Well, this is the most typical cause, though Outlook links may stop working in some other scenarios and even without any obvious reason at all. Okay, know that you know the cause and consequences, let's see how you can get the problem resolved.
Luckily for us, Microsoft guys are aware of the "hyperlinks in Outlook not working" issue and they've already worked out a fix. So, the first thing you should try is download and run Microsoft's Fix It tool for your version of Windows.
An alternative way to access the "Set your default programs" dialog is by clicking Internet Explorer's Tools icon > Internet Options > Programs tab > Set programs.Restart Outlook and check whether hyperlinks are working. If they fail to open again, proceed to the next method.
If links stopped working in your Outlook after you had uninstalled Google Chrome (or Firefox) while it was set as your default browser, try setting IE as default before uninstalling another browser to prevent the problem. Here is what you do:
In the System Restore dialog window, you can either go with the Recommended restore" option or "Choose a different restore point" when you know for sure that everything worked fine, including hyperlinks in Outlook. And this is all I have to say on this problem. I do hope you find the article helpful and one of the above methods has worked for you. If hyperlinks in your Outlook emails still are not working, drop us a line in comments and we will try to figure out the cause and make your links open as they should. Thank you for reading!
HI I have tried all of the fixes and have had no luck in fixing the issue, I have set " Choose default apps by file type " as well, as well as the fixes above , It appears to have happened after security downloads 25-5-2020, Hyper links in Word , Excell & Outlook all are blocked by Office it would seem while these programs still accept internet connections in but not a hyperlink to web browser , Cheers
I have Windows 10, MS Outlook 2007 & the Hyperlinks have suddenly stopped working in Outlook. My default web browswer has been Firefox for some years now. The fix that you can download from MS is not for Windows 10, only lower versions. MS advise going through the troubleshooting route which was useless. I have tried changing my default web browser to IE 11, Goggle Chrome, and back to Firefox - several times for each one! Wasted many hours. Suggestions please? PS I am not competant to edit the registry!
I have tried EVERYTHING in your article without any resolution to Hyperlinks not working. When I left click the link the address bar shows "about blank" and the destination window is empty. When I go to any website a pop up says do I want to make IE default I click yes.Internet (11) is not listed in the default selection window but in the program association list it is linked to htm, html, shmtl.Any alternatives for this problem?
We've noticed this at work as well. After working with Microsoft, we saw that Outlook was being denied access to the HKCR\htmlfile\shell\opennew\command key. Before it looks at that key though, it checks the HKCU hive for the same setting. We found that if you copy the HKCR\htmlfile branch into HKCU\Software\Classes, links open without a problem. We still don't know the root cause, but this workaround may work for you.
I reinstalled chrome, the hyperlinks now work, i then uninstalled chrome settings internet explorer to default with the uninstall tool of chrome, hyperlinks still working on my first machine, but on the second machine this does not work.
Re: "Hyperlinks not working in Outlook? How to make links open again in Outlook 2013, 2010 and lower".Your reccomended 1st step (applying the MS fix) worked. Thank you. What really P@##%D me off about MS was that I spent 3+ hrs with their on-line and phone support people. In the proccess I traveled to the Philippines, India and a few locations in th U.S. and no one told me about the "fix".While Outlook may be helpful for a business, I would not reccomend it for home use unless the household has an in-house Tech Support Dept.Thank you again for your help.
i didn't test them because my own usecase is slightly different: i want to do the actual download on a remote computer. to help with that, i discovered that -US/firefox/addon/bulk-media-downloader/ will capture downloads at the point when the what to do with this file popup appears.the extension then allows me to pick the urls and copy them to the clipboard without actually initiating a download in the browser.
Magnet links are an easy, safe and secure way to share content. There might be a few issues here and there when you first try downloading magnet links on a new browser. However, the problems are usually relatively standard and therefore straightforward to troubleshoot.
